Scabiosa – SkyRocket

Coming in Spring 2027 (through Monrovia Nurseries)

Reach for the stars with SkyRocket™ Scabiosa! Bred for its exceptionally large, beautifully ruffled, fully double soft lilac-blue blooms and sturdy, upright stems, SkyRocket scabiosa brings one of the garden’s most sought-after colours to beds, borders and containers.

Flowering continuously from spring through autumn, SkyRocket scabiosa produces masses of eye-catching blooms that are held proudly above the foliage, creating a spectacular display in garden beds, borders and patio pots. The strong stems not only keep the flowers looking their best in the garden, but also make them ideal for cutting, bringing their vibrant colour indoors for long-lasting floral arrangements.

Easy to grow in a sunny position, SkyRocket scabiosa also attracts bees and butterflies, adding life and movement to your garden while providing months of reliable colour.

The SkyRocket™ scabiosa has indeed taken the gardening world by storm, thanks to its massively upsized blooms and uniquely rigid growth habit. Bred specifically to fix the “wonky,” floppy stems traditional scabiosas are prone to, SkyRocket scabiosa delivers structural excellence alongside non-stop colour.

FLOWERS & FOLIAGE FLOWERS & FOLIAGE

SkyRocket™ Scabiosa has strappy narrow foliage in a rich mid green, forming lush clumps. Held above this cascade of greenery sit the masses of soft lilac-blue flower-heads. They are long flowering, from spring through autumn, and have a light musky fragrance.

PLANTING TIPS PLANTING TIPS

SkyRocket Scabiosa like being planted in full sun, in well drained soil with plants spaced 30-45cm apart (12-18in)

WAYS TO USE THEM WAYS TO USE THEM

Plant SkyRocket Scabiosa around the garden bed to add permanent texture and months of colour. Line them up along the path to the front door. Plant along the front edge of the garden bed to add structure to a rose garden. Fill planters with them for a lush green feel. Bring inside for flower arrangements as they make great cut flowers.

SHAPE & SIZE SHAPE & SIZE

Each plant will mature into a clump 60-80cm high and around 20-35cm wide. Masses of flower heads - each around 7cm to 8cm in diameter - are held by strong stems above the long strappy leaves which are 15-25cm long and 2-5cm wide. The more you cut the stems the more they will flower

FOOD & WATER FOOD & WATER

SkyRocket Scabiosas like a well-drained soil and water, but no wet feet. Boost initial growth with a handful of slow release fertiliser scattered 5 fingers away from the centre of the plant so goes directly to the roots., then annually in spring to encourage flowering.
