Agapanthus Storm series

The breeders of Storm™ Agapanthus have come a long way from those traditional broad-leaved beasts our grandparents grew. Instead these are lovely plants: compact, fine foliaged, and smothered with flowers for 70 days in summer, even spot flowering year round. Which is why these Storm agapanthus are increasingly popular with gardeners and landscapers looking for a green exotic look with long-lasting flowers. And these agapanthus are just as tough as their ancestors – you can plant them, forget them and enjoy the major flower show that gets better year after year.

FLOWERS & FOLIAGE FLOWERS & FOLIAGE

The strappy narrow foliage is a rich mid green forming lush clumps. Held well above this cascade of greenery sit the masses of flower-heads in three colour options: Blue Storm’s light violet-blue (Thunder Storm's also available with variegated foliage), Sea Storm’s deeper mid blue and Snow Storm’s brilliant white.

PLANTING TIPS PLANTING TIPS

Storm Agapanthus can be planted anywhere: in full sun through to part shade and in soils that range from sandy to clay, these agapanthus will adapt and thrive. Note that mature plants will produce 100 flower heads in full sun and fewer in part shade.

WAYS TO USE THEM WAYS TO USE THEM

Dot them around the garden bed to add permanent texture and months of colour. Line them up along the path to the front door. Plant along the front edge of the garden bed to add structure to a rose garden. Fill planters with them for a drought free lush green feel.

SHAPE & SIZE SHAPE & SIZE

Each plant will mature into a clump 30 cm high and half a metre wide, though Snow Storm can grow a little larger. The 10 cm flower heads are held well above the leaves which are 35 cm long and 2 cm wide.

FOOD & WATER FOOD & WATER

Once planted and settled in with a few establishment waterings, these plants will need little additional care. Boost initial growth with a slow release fertiliser, then annually to encourage flowering.

PESTS & DISEASE PESTS & DISEASE

While snails and slugs may cause slight damage, these Storm Agapanthus are tough and generally have no issue with pests or disease.

Landscaper tips

• Once established, Agapanthus Storm are ideal for low maintenance massed plantings along drives and at the centre of turning circles
• Fill large containers or raised beds to introduce lush green and massed colour to difficult sites
• Being compact, the Storm Series is an ideal understory planting especially as it copes with part shade: there will be fewer flowers but they’ll look fantastic massed under deciduous trees
• Plant all of the Agapanthus Storm series together for a simple to create, high impact blue and white planting scheme
