Can I grow these plants in pots?
The golden rule for growing garden plants in pots is to always use high-quality potting mix in a container with open drainage holes, rather than heavy garden soil. Pots restrict root space and water flow, meaning your choice of soil, watering habits, and pot size will directly determine your gardening success.

Simple steps:

  1. Select pot (one size up from the root ball).
  2. Fill bottom 1/3 with loose potting mix.
  3. Set plant in place (do not disturb the root core).

Fill edges, press down firmly to secure, and water thoroughly.

When is the best time to plant?
Spring and fall/autumn are the ideal planting times.

How often should I water my plants after planting?
Water your new plant thoroughly right after planting to settle the soil. Keep the soil consistently moist while the roots establish. Adding a 1-inch (2.5 cm) layer of mulch around the base will help retain moisture and reduce the need for frequent watering.

How often should I water my plants?
Basically a plant – once it has established its roots (normally 3-4 weeks) – should only be watered once or twice a week. Adding 5cm (2 inches) of mulch on your garden bed around your plant so trees can cut water loss by up to 60%, which means less watering and in effect healthier plants.
Remember to not place the mulch right up to the stems of plants or trees, just leaving a little space so fungus can not develop around the neck of the plant.

How long does it take for plants to establish?
Most plants begin to establish within their first growing season, with stronger growth and improved performance in the following year. Establishment time can vary depending on soil conditions, climate, and plant type.

How often should I fertilise?
Normally applying a handful of fertiliser per plant once a year in spring helps support strong growth and flowering throughout the season.

Do I need to prune my plants?
Not necessary, however many flowering shrubs benefit from light annual pruning to encourage new healthy growth and improve flowering. The timing and amount of pruning depends on the plant type, but most respond best to shaping after their main flowering period or in late winter.

When and how should I prune my Flower Carpet Roses?
Flower Carpet roses are so easy. Just get a pair of hedge shears (or use a hedge trimmer if you have masses of Flower Carpet roses – it’ll make the job much faster!) and go “clip, clip, clip” to cut the bush back to half to one third its size in late winter just before the beginning of new spring growth. That is, no fancy pruning at all…
If you want to leave the bush without pruning, you can also do this and it will still come with masses of blooms in spring, but the bush will just be a little bigger all round. So it is up to you whether you cut it back or not.

Are your plants low maintenance?
All the plants we select are trialled and grown for up to 7 years to ensure that are low maintenance and eco-friendly.   With the right planting position and occasional pruning or feeding, they generally require minimal ongoing care.

Why are the leaves turning yellow?
Yellowing leaves is often caused by overwatering, poor drainage, or is just part of the plants natural seasonal changes prior to their leaves falling off for winter.. Checking soil moisture and improving drainage at other times of the year often helps resolve the issue.

What should I do if my plant looks unhealthy or isn’t growing well?
Poor growth is often linked to environmental stress such as lack of sunlight, compacted soil, or incorrect watering. Adjusting growing conditions usually helps plants recover over time.

How do I deal with pests or diseases?
Most plants may occasionally experience common pests such as aphids or fungal issues. Early treatment and good airflow around plants are key to prevention and control.

Does disease tolerance mean Flower Carpet roses are immune to disease?
Flower Carpet roses are among the most disease resistant roses ever bred, but they’re not plastic plants. Flower Carpet roses can develop black spot or mildew, especially if a plant is in stress from lack of water or other reasons. However, well-cared for Flower Carpet roses are very robust and unlikely to suffer unduly from exposure to black spot or mildew.
